I got a chance to attend Gurudev’s lecture on Chapter 4 Text 32,33 of Srimad Bhagavad Gita in Sri Dham Vrindavan at Srila Prabhupada House.
The lecture was about the importance of serving Krishna.
Gurudev explained different kind of sacrifices that people used to do in previous Yugas.
Maharaj also explained the different kind of yajnas that are performed by different people
for different purposes(some for Demigods, some for welfare of local people and others
for fulfilling our own desires).
Maharaj explained the main difference between Brahm and Bhrama.
Brahm means the sum total of Krishna’s energies and Brahma can be recognized as an incarnation
of Krishna or Krishna is Brahma but Brahma is not Krishna. Later Gurudev explained that Krishna
is not the doer instead of the fact that He is the cause of all causes.
Isvara param Krishna
Sachidananda vigraha
Anadir adi govinda
Sarva karan karanam
(Brahma-samhita 5.1)
Thus He is not doing any thing Himself but his energies accomplish everything.
Gurudev also explained that we say we are very energetic but we are not instead we
are the part and parcel of Krishna’s energy. so to culminate we need to understand
that everything is done by the energies of Krishna but under His supervision.
Maharaj
described the process of enjoyment, that we are not the enjoyers instead we are the servants
of Krishna. We are not qualified to enjoy like we say I enjoyed dancing and attending kirtan
today but its not the case. We must improve and correct that today I danced and served Krishna
by dancing and attending kirtan. We must not consider our likes or dislikes while serving
but try to do everything in order to serve Krishna. Thus we must consider everything
that we do as our service to Krishna.
Maharaj also gave an example of a saying in Hindi especially in Northern India that people say
"Mera aapki kripa se sab kaam ho raha hai, karte ho tum kanhaiya mera naam ho raha hai”.
People sing these kinds of bhajans,in which it is correct that whatever happens it happens
only due to Krishna’s desire but then they take the credit of all these deeds.
Gurudev also told us that Krishna is called Kanhaiya only in Vrindavan and nowhere else.
So the whole lecture was about Krishna’s supreme energies and his desires.
In the end Gurudev answered some of the doubts and then we left for Gurudev’s ashram.
